Swine flu still is a real threat to schools

Bình Phước’s Center for Preventive Medicine said that the 42-year-old man was tested positive for the virus and died on September 19.

The man, a resident in Đồng Tâm District, was hospitalized on September 18 after having symptoms like high fever, coughing, and diarrhea since September 15.

The Hồ Chí Minh City Pasteur Institute yesterday confirmed that the man got infected with the A/H1N1 virus after local doctors sent his blood sample there.

Until yesterday, Bình Phước reported 238 A/H1N1 patients, including pupils in over 20 schools. Over 800 suspected cases are being quarantined and treated in hospitals in the province.

Also on Sunday, the central highland province of Đắk Lắk reported its first A/H1N1 death.

The victim was a 46-year-old female, used to suffer from heart disease. She was taken to the Provincial General Hospital on September 17 with the symptoms of fever and lungs swell.
