The project has a total funding of US$5.97 million, with US$ 4.5 million sponsored by UNFPA, US$ 800,000 contributed by UNHABITAT and the rest provided by the Vietnamese Government.

Project VNM8P01 named “Support for the implementation of the Viet Nam Statistical Development Strategy in the 2011-2020 period” aims to improve the collecting, analysis, forecast and dissemination of statistical data on population, reproductive health and gender issues.

It also serves for the planning of socio-economic development plans, the supervision of strategy realization and the implementation of millennium development goals.

Addressing the ceremony, UNFPA Chief Representative Bruce Campbell affirmed that the Statistical Development Strategy marks Viet Nam’s entry into the world’s map of 100 countries having statistics development strategies

The strategy vividly shows the determination of the Vietnamese Government in transforming the statistics system in favor of policy making and supervision of policy fulfillment.

Viet Nam should ensure that related sides are fully aware of statistics data and invest adequately for good and easy excessive figures./.
