US House of Representatives delegation visits VN

VNGOVNet – Deputy PM, Foreign Minister Phạm Gia Khiêm and Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyễn Văn Yểu had separately receptions and talks on April 06 to the visiting delegation from the US House of Representatives headed by Mr. Solomon Otist, Chairman of the US House Armed Service Committee’s Subcommittee on Readiness.

During the meetings, the Vietnamese sides highly lauded the visits by the US delegations to Vietnam, which will surely help deepen the mutual understanding between the Vietnamese and American peoples. The Vietnamese senior officials gladly recognized the good development of the Vietnam-US relationship in the recent time, especially in trade. They also praised the US cooperation in drug control, struggling against terrorism and transnational crimes as well as in fruitful cooperation programs between the two ministries of national defense. The Vietnamese side asked the US to further support Vietnam in searching missing people, clearing landmines and dealing with Agent Orange-related issues. 

 

Deputy PM Phạm Gia Khiêm receives Mr. Solomon Otist

Vietnam is now preparing the official visit to the US by State President Nguyễn Minh Triết to cement and develop the bilateral trade ties in the time to come.

Mr. Solomon Otist thanked Vietnam for her cooperation in American MIAs programs. The US side affirmed that it will promote the exchange of delegations to foster the bilateral relationship.
