At the meeting, the U.S. Trade Representative lauded Viet Nam for successfully organizing the 23rd APEC Ministers Responsible for Trade Meeting, affirming that the TIFA creates a crucial dialogue mechanism to address economic, trade and investment issues between the two nations.

The two sides discussed ways to tackle economic and trade barriers at the meeting.

The Vietnamese Minister announced Viet Nam’s measures to address economic, trade and investment issues of the U.S.’s concerns such as advertisement on U.S. social network, e-payment service and imports of agricultural products.

He urged the U.S. side to soon recognize Viet Nam as a market economy and make fair decisions on anti-dumping and anti-subsidy investigation on Vietnamese exports in line with U.S. and the World Trade Organization’s regulations.

The two sides consented to strengthen TIFA’s activities to treat with arising issues and promote economic, trade and investment relations in the future.
