USAID supports three Vietnamese universities to reform

VGP - The Partnership for Higher Education Reform project will help strengthen teaching, research, innovation, and governance within the three largest national universities in Viet Nam.

The US$14.2 million project, which was announced during U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris’s official visit to Viet Nam last month, was designed to build up teaching, research, innovation and governance for three largest universities in Vietnam.

The project will focus on three fields, which Viet Nam has identified as priorities including technology and engineering, medicine and liberal arts.

It will support Viet Nam National University-Ha Noi, Viet Nam National University-Ho Chi Minh City and the University of Da Nang, to become more sustainable, accountable and autonomous; improve academic quality; and advance research and innovation.

The project's strategy centers on four key programs: governance, teaching and learning, research, and university-industry linkages.

Core activities will strengthen university governance and financial systems, provide faculty training in designing state-of-the-art courses, facilitate research collaborations and expanded research capacity, and develop guidelines and incentives for prosperous partnerships between universities and the private sector.
