Updated information on Viet Nam's COVID-19 testing capacity

The 79 designated facilities are located in the four regions across Viet Nam. Of these, 36 in the Northern Region, seven in the Central Region, two in the Central Highlands Region, and 34 in the Southern Region.

The nine latest labs are: (i) Ha Noi University of Public Health, (ii) Nghe An Center for Disease Control, (ii) Institute of Preventive Medicine and Public Health (IPMPH) under the Ha Noi Medical University, (iv) Pham Ngoc Thach Hospital, (v) Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital, (vi) Gia An 115 Hospital, (vii) Quality Control Center for Medical Laboratory, (viii) Hoan My Sai Gon Hosptial and (ix) Southern Military Center for Preventive Medicine.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 epidemic, the Ministry of Health has ordered medical facilities nationwide to prepare infrastructure, equipment, materials and personnel to conduct tests in a timely manner.

There are currently 123 facilities capable of conducting RT-PCR tests nationwide, with a maximum capacity of some 46,000 samples a day.

The number of qualified test facilities increased gradually from 51 as of May 4, to 66 as of July 28; 70 as of August 11; and 79 as of September 28.

So far, the country has recorded 1,074 COVID-19 patients, including 691 locally-transmitted cases.
