The signing was made in Argentina during a working visit of the Vietnamese Finance Ministry on November 18-20 to boost customs cooperation and seek chances for financial coordination between the two sides.

The two sides agreed to establish all-around relations in line with international customs principles and acknowledge the necessity for an agreement of this kind as the two-way trade turnover surged rapidly from US $32 million in 2001 to US $600 million in 2009.

Earlier, while meeting with Argentinean Sub-secretary of Economic Cooperation Alejandro Robba Deputy Finance Minister Đỗ Hoàng Anh Tuấn, head of the Vietnamese delegation, highlighted the importance to reach the agreement through information sharing in order to raise transparency of trade relations and reinforce legal framework for bilateral economic ties.

Mr. Tuấn also suggested Việt Nam and Argentina ink an agreement on double tax avoidance and anti-trade fraud./.
