VN, Austria boost education and science cooperation

VPG – Vietnam and Austria will continue to intensify cooperation in higher education, science and technology, said participants to a forum in Ho Chi Minh City on Thursday.

The forum was attended by Austrian President Heinz Fischer and Vietnamese Deputy PM Nguyen Thien Nhan, policy makers and representatives from the two countries’ universities and scientific research institutions.

Vietnamese Government is determined to prioritize resources for the development of education, science and technology, considering it as breakthrough solution for quick and sustainable development.

Accordingly, the Government will focus on improving the quality of tertiary education, establishing high quality universities, and speeding up scientific and technological research at tertiary establishments, and renovating administration mechanisms.

The Southeast Asian country will also push international cooperation in education with the international community, including Austria.

Speaking at the forum, Deputy PM Nguyen Thien Nhan the forum demonstrates the two countries’ resolve to make education, science and technology priorities in the bilateral ties.

He also pledged to create favorable conditions for more cooperation among universities, research institutions and scientific businesses between the two sides.

Meanwhile, President Heinz Fischer hoped that Vietnamese and Austrian universities would reach specific cooperative contracts.  

On this occasion, both President Heinz Fischer and Deputy PM Nguyen Thien Nhan witnessed the signing ceremony of cooperative deals between leading Vietnamese and Austrian universities./.
