VN, Cyprus boost relations

VGP - The Vietnamese Party, State and people will continue to further the friendly and cooperative ties with Cyprus, a senior government official said.

Mr. Nguyễn Xuân Phúc, Politburo member and Minister-Chairman of the Vietnamese Government Office made the statement in Hà Nội on June 27 at his reception for Mr. Venizelos Zannettos, Head of the Central Economy Committee of the Progressive Party for the Working People (AKEL) of Cyprus

Mr. Phúc thanked the solidarity and valuable support the AKEL and the Cyprus people had given to Việt Nam in the latter’s fight for independence and national reunification in the past, as well as the current national development and defense.

Mr. Zannettos said the AKEL will bring into play the role of a ruling party, joining hands with the Cyprus Government led by President Demitris Christofias to constantly foster the solidarity, friendship and cooperation with the Communist Party of Việt Nam and strengthen the two countries’ overall ties.

Earlier, Mr. Zannettos and his delegation held talks with the Vietnamese Party delegation led by Mr. Hoàng Bình Quân, Politburo member and Head of the Party’s External Relations Department.

During the visit, the AKEL delegation made fact-finding tours of Hà Nội and the central highlands province of Đắk Lắk.
