The two sides exchanged specific measures to enhance ASEAN-EU relations more effectively.
Mr. Minh thanked the European Commission and its member countries for financing €542 million for Viet Nam's development in 2014 and increasing the aid for Viet Nam to €400 million in 2014-2020 in the fields of poverty reduction, sustainable development and community health.
Ms. Catherine Ashton confirmed to support Viet Nam in strengthening comprehensive cooperative relations with the EU, boosting the approval of the EU-Viet Nam Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) and completing the EU-Viet Nam Free Trade Agreement negotiation round.
On the East Sea issue, the EU and its member countries expressed concerns and advocated Viet Nam in dealing with disputes by peaceful measures, complying with international law to ensure regional peace, stability, and security, safety and freedom of navigation.
