The two sides continued to focus their discussions on general terms and principles for the Việt Nam-EU cooperation in economy, trade, counter-terrorism, transport, climate change, energy and human rights.

Addressing the opening ceremony, EU chief delegate James Moran, who is the European Commission’s Director for Asia of the Directorate General for External Relations, welcomed Việt Nam’s cooperative spirit in four previous rounds of talks.

Vietnamese chief delegate Bùi Thanh Sơn, who is the Assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, stressed that Việt Nam regards the partnership with the EU as a key pillar in its external policy.

He expected that this round of negotiation will bring about positive results in specific fields.
