VN, Germany boost security cooperation

VGP – Minister of Public Security Tran Dai Quang is on a working visit to Germany, seeking to enhance law enforcement cooperation between the two countries.

July 04, 2014 3:18 PM GMT+7

Coordinator for the German Intelligence Agency Gunter Heiss on July 3 welcomed the Vietnamese delegation, saying that he hopes the visit will help deepen the bilateral cooperative ties and elevate the strategic partnership between the two countries.

They discussed regional and international issues of mutual concerns, including network security and coordination in fighting cyber crimes.

On the occasion, Quang informed his host of the current situation in the East Sea after China illegally placed its oil rig Haiyang Shiyou-981 in Viet Nam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf, affirming Viet Nam ’s stance of settling the East Sea issue by peaceful measures on the basis of international law and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

He thanked the German Government and people for their continued support to Viet Nam’s stance on the East Sea issue and urged Germany to raise a stronger voice for Vietnamese people's efforts to secure justice.

For his part, Gunter Heiss expressed his deep sympathy and agreement with Viet Nam’s policies and solutions to the East Sea issue.

He described Quang’s visit as a contribution to deepening the friendship and strategic cooperation between the two countries and their law enforcement agencies in particular.

Earlier, the Vietnamese delegation paid a courtesy visit to the Viet Nam Embassy in Germany.

Ambassador Nguyen Thi Hoang Anh briefed the delegation on major activities of the embassy and Vietnamese residing in the country to promote bilateral relations and ties with other European nations.
