VN, Germany pledge to deepen multifaceted ties

VNGOP – In the meetings on May 21 with German President Horst Kohler, Vietnamese leaders praised the guest's first visit to Vietnam an important landmark in the relationship between Vietnam and the Federal Republic of Germany.

During the talks and meetings, the leaders of the Vietnamese State and Government hihgly spoke of Germany's projects in poverty reduction, supporting economic renovation, protecting and using natural resources in a sustainable way, health care, and education.

The leaders of the two countries expressed their pleasure at positive developments of the bilateral friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Germany over the past time. They agreed to promote this relationship to a new height, in conformity with the two countries' potentialities and peoples' desire and interests. The leaders also discussed solutions for fast and sustainable socio-economic development while protecting environment.

The Vietnamese leaders confirmed that the Vietnamese Government always wants to boost multifaceted cooperation with Germany. Many German enterprises have been succeeding in investment projects in Vietnam.

President Horst Kohler showed his admiration to Vietnam's recent development. He affirmed that Germany is willing to boost their ties with Vietnam and stressed that the two countries should deepen their ties not only in economy but culture, education, science and technology.

Right after the official talks, President Nguyễn Minh Triết and his German counterpart Horst Kohler witnessed the signing ceremony of two agreements on Vietnam-Germany cooperation, namely ''Framework Agreement between the Vietnam Ministry of Education and Training and the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs on teaching German as second foreign language at some secondary schools in Vietnam'' and "Agreement on establishing the Germany University in Vietnam ".
