VN, Laos sign new Agreement on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters

The new agreement includes 24 articles that helps complete the legal framework for the two authorized agencies in combating trans-national crimes. 

The signing ceremony was held within the framework of the Vietnamese Supreme People’s Procuracy delegation’s visit to Laos from January 7-9. 

During the talks between Le Minh Tri and Khamsan Souvong on the same day, the two sides expressed their delight on the fruitful developments in cooperative ties between their Supreme People’s Procuracies and the local People’s Procuracies sharing border lines, asserting that the cooperation has made practical contributions to consolidating and strengthening Viet Nam-Laos special friendship relations. 

They asserted that the signing of the Treaty aims to complete the legal framework on mutual assistance between the two nations in the upcoming time. 

Both sides agreed to boost procedures for the early approval of the Treaty, contributing to fighting trans-national crimes. 

The host and the guest consented to maintain delegation exchanges and facilitate local Supreme People’s Procuracies to promote coordination in crime prevention and control and experience exchange.
