VN, Netherlands issue joint communiqué

VGP – Việt Nam and the Netherlands issued a joint communiqué in La Haye on October 1 when PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng and his spouse concluded their official visit to the European country.

The communiqué says that at the invitation of Dutch PM Mark Rutte, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng and his spouse paid an official visit to the Netherlands from September 27-October 1. This is his first trip to Europe since he was elected Prime Minister of Việt Nam.

During his stay, PM Dũng hold talks with PM Mark Rutte, met with Queen Beatrix, President of the House of Representatives Gerdi Verbeet and President of the Upper House Kim Putters, Crown Prince Willem Alexander, Deputy PM Maxime Verhagen, Foreign Minister Uri Rosenthal, Mayor of Amsterdam and Rotterdam cities; etherlands-Việt Nam Energy, Oil and Gas Cooperation Forum among others.

At these meetings, leaders of the two countries expressed their pleasure at the fine development of the bilateral friendship and multi-faceted cooperation. They agreed to continue broadening the bilateral ties.

Both sides agreed on five prioritized areas, namely climate change adaptation and water management, agriculture, marine-based economy, energy and tourism, and logistics. They also agreed to enhance cooperation to other fields of common concern.

Việt Nam and the Netherlands agreed that the latter’s official development assistance has effectively contributed to socio-economic in the former.

The leaders applauded the signing of a protocol on amending the bilateral aviation agreement, and a MoU on climate and water services cooperation and other deals between the two sides’ businesses and universities.

Regarding international and regional issues, both sides were unanimous that a solid legal order is of significant importance for an equal, peaceful and prosperous world, in which the United Nations takes the central role.

The leaders stressed the necessity for the international community to make greater efforts to overcome the economic difficulties and aftermath of the current public debt crisis…

The two sides have reaffirmed their support for closer cooperative ties between Việt Nam and the European Union, and between the Netherlands and the ASEAN.

Both sides also spoke highly of their close coordination in the international arena.
