VN, Netherlands seek investment opportunities

VGP - Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai has said that the Forum on Dutch-Vietnamese Economic Cooperation in the Hague offered a good opportunity for Vietnamese delegates to learn ideas about Viet Nam’s trade and investment environment and for both countries’ businesses to discuss and realize cooperation potential.

Deputy PM Hai made this statement during the September 24 gathering, which attracted over 100 businesses and groups from both countries, as part of his visit to the Netherlands.

He stressed that the US$3.6 billion two-way trade can be escalated, saying that Dutch businesses could find potential of the market where the consumers exceed 90 million, the economy grows fast and the political situation is stable. The market can act as a bridge to ASEAN and Asian markets.

Deputy PM Hai affirmed the country’s resolution in maintaining socio-economic stability, boosting administrative reforms, improving competitive capacity and domestic business environment and welcoming foreign enterprises' business expansion.

During the forum, officials from both countries introduced their investment environment and market, as well as the lists of projects calling for investment. The participants also discussed and gave specific ideas about realizing the bilateral high-level cooperation agreement.

Many Dutch investors expressed their belief that the Viet Nam-EU Free Trade Agreement would be concluded as soon as possible, contributing to enhancing bilateral economic ties.

Deputy PM Hai witnessed the signing of a memorandum on bilateral cooperation in vegetables and fruits between Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Hoang Van Thang and his counterpart.

On the sidelines of the forum, Deputy PM Hai met with representatives of several Dutch groups.

On the same day, the Government official attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition “Vietnamese space”, which is part of the “Viet Nam Days in the Netherlands”.

The exhibition introduces Viet Nam’s culture, people, landscapes and socio-economic development and promote the country's  farm products, including cocoa, cashew nuts and coffee.
