Both heads of the two delegations expressed their pleasure at comprehensive progress of the bilateral ties, especially after the official visit of Vietnamese Party chief Nông Đức Mạnh to New Zealand in September 2009 and the recent establishment of the Comprehensive Partnership between the two countries.

The two sides briefly discussed an action plan in the 2010-2030 period to put the Comprehensive Partnership into reality in all areas.

They also agreed to hold both political and cultural events to celebrate the 35th university of their diplomatic ties establishment (June 19, 1975) next year.

Regarding regional and international issues of common concern, the two sides vowed to support each other on such forums as East Asia Summit (EAS), ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF), Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) and the UN.

As Việt Nam takes over the ASEAN presidency in 2010, the two sides pledged to speed up coordination between ASEAN and New Zealand.

Việt Nam will host the eighth consultations in 2011.
