VN, Russia agree to accelerate FTA negotiations
VGP – Vietnam and Russia have agreed to accelerate the negotiations for a free trade agreement between Vietnam and the customs alliance of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan

Both sides expect to launch the FTA negotiations on the occasion of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit scheduled to take place in Vladivostok in this October.
The two leaders expressed their pleasure at the progress of the bilateral trade ties. It is estimated that the two-way trade turnover would reach US$3 billion in 2012.
They also spoke highly ot the results of national defense cooperation over the past time and agreed to boost the linkage on the basis of mutual confidence.
Both countries vowed to step up cooperation in education-training, science and technology, culture, tourism among others.
State President Sang and Prime Minister Medvedev also exchanged views on expanding relations between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the United Russia Party led by Medvedev, including the exchange of high-level visits.
The same day, State President Sang met with staff of Vietnamese Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Russia.
