VN, Singapore vow to cement ties

VGP – State President Nguyễn Minh Triết and his Spouse arrived in Singapore on Sunday to begin his State visit to the ASEAN neighbor at the invitation of President Sellapan Rama Nathan.

At their meeting right after the official reception, the two leaders expressed their pleasure at the fine development of traditional friendship and multi-faceted cooperation between Việt Nam and Singapore.

President S.R. Nathan believed that the Vietnamese leader’s visit would help to push the bilateral ties to a new height. He praised the achievements gained by Việt Nam during the past 20 years on innovation.

Meanwhile, State President Triết hailed Singapore’s efforts to successfully organize the APEC Leaders' Week 2009.

The two leaders agreed to spare no effort to cement the traditional friendship and multi-faceted cooperation for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
They also exchanged ways and directions to further realize the Framework Agreement on Việt Nam-Singapore Connectivity in the areas of finance, banking, education and training, investment, ICT, trade, service, and transport.

They agreed to shake hands in other fields, namely tourism, culture, national security and defense.

Singaporean investors are pleased with the business environment in Việt Nam and want to expand their operations there, stated the host President.

He added that Singapore would assist Việt Nam to succeed in the ASEAN Presidency Year 2010 in a joint effort to boost cooperation among ASEAN member countries as well as between the Association and external partners.
