VN, Uzbekistan leap forward in oil and gas cooperation

VGP – Deputy PM Hoàng Trung Hải on April 5 (local time) in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, witnessed the singing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Uzbeknheftegaz (Uzbekistan's state oil and gas group) and PetroVietnam, and the inauguration of the representative office of PetroVietnam in the Central Asian country

Visiting the headquarters of Uzbeknheftegaz, the Vietnamese Deputy PM underlined preferential policies of the Vietnamese Government for Uzbekistani investors and enterprises in many fields, especially energy.

Both Uzbeknheftegaz and PetroVietnam are big energy giants which have great potential and favorable conditions to shakes hands with each other, said Mr. Hải, adding that their earlier cooperation would create an important foundation for the two sides to exploit petroleum and tap service markets in Uzbekistan, Việt Nam and third countries; exchange technological know-how in this field.   

Under the newly-penned MoU, Petrovietnam will have right to survey and explore oil in Bukharo, Khiva. This is regarded as a new progress in bilateral cooperation in petroleum sector.

On the same day, the Vietnamese Deputy PM witnessed the inauguration ceremony of the new representative office of PetroVietnam in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. 

On this occasion, Deputy FM Nguyễn Quốc Cường and his Uzbekistani counterpart Salikhvaev held talks and signed the Agreement on Visa Exemption for Diplomatic Passport Holders.
