VN attends 22nd ASEAN Banking Conference in Campuchia

VGP - A Vietnamese delegation, led by Secretary General of the Viet Nam Banks Association Nguyen Toan Thang, joined more than 500 delegates at the 22nd ASEAN Banking Conference which opened in Phnom Penh on November 25.

VN attends 22nd ASEAN Banking Conference in Campuchia

It was jointly held by the Association of Banks in Cambodia (ABC) and the ASEAN Bankers Association (ABA).

The event themed “ASEAN Connectivity 2025 – A brave New World of Digital Innovation for ONE ASEAN Banking Sector”.

Themed “ASEAN Connectivity 2025: A Brave New World of Digital Innovation for One ASEAN Banking Sector,” the event brought together more than 500 delegates, including leading financial service providers from 10 member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

Addressing the opening ceremony, In Channy, Chairman of ABC and President and Group Managing Director of ACLEDA Bank of Cambodia, said cooperation in the ASEAN helps ABA members learn from each other and compete equally to spur economic growth and social development in all ASEAN member countries.

Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, CheaChanto, appreciated the strong development of the banking sector in Cambodia and ASEAN over the past years. He emphasised that the modernisation of financial infrastructure and creative technologies in the area has helped increase the effectiveness of financial services for 600 million people in ASEAN region.

In addition, speakers will deliver speeches on urgent topics at this conference, particularly digitalisation and financial technology (fintech), cybersecurity, blockchainand digital transfer in the banking sector and financial services.

As part of the conference on November 26-27, the 49th meeting of the ASEAN Banking Council exclusively for ABA members will be held. 

The ASEAN groups 10 countries, namely Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam. 

This is the first time Cambodia has hosted the ASEAN Banking Conference, an event held every two years between ASEAN member countries.
