VN backs up Russia's accession to WTO

VNGOP – An expert-level meeting was held from June 25-27 in Moscow on trade issues between Vietnam and Russia.

June 30, 2007 7:23 AM GMT+7

In the spirit of friendship, constructiveness and mutual understanding, the two sides discussed solutions to deal with some unsolved problems revolving some Vietnamese exports' entry into Russian markets. The two sides also agreed upon many measures to increase bilateral trade turnover corresponding to the two countries' potentialities, desire, and strategic partnership.

The Vietnamese and Russian experts also discussed, agreed and initialed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Russia's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO). In the MoU, Vietnam pledged to fully support Russia's admission in 2007 without any discriminative conditions. Russia and Vietnam also recognize each other's market economy. The MoU is expected to be officially signed by leaders of the Vietnam Ministry of Trade and the Russia Ministry of Trade and Economic Development in early July 2007.
