Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, Chief of the General Staff of the Viet Nam People’s Army and Deputy Defense Minister chaired the meeting themed “Defense Cooperation for a Cohesive and Responsive ASEAN”.

The ACDFM-17 offered chance for regional chiefs of defense forces to exchange views on regional security challenges of mutual concern and to discuss measures to strengthen practical cooperation, internal solidarity, and collective response to common threats.

The participants also approved an action plan for 2020-2022 of the ASEAN armies and a joint statement of the ACDFM-17.
