VN enters day 48th without new COVID-19 community infection

VGP – Viet Nam entered the 48th day without any new COVID-19 infection case in the community, the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control said early Wednesday.

June 03, 2020 10:31 AM GMT+7

Among 30 COVID-19 patients being treated at centrally- and provincially-run hospitals, five tested negative for the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 once, and two tested negative for the virus twice or more. All of them are in stable condition.

As of early June 3, as many as 8,160 people having close contact with COVID-19 patients or entering from pandemic-hit areas are being quarantined, including 103 at hospitals, 7,104 at concentrated quarantine establishments and 962 at places of residence. The country’s patient tally remained unchanged at 328, including 188 imported cases who were quarantined immediately upon arrivals.

Regarding the most critical case, British pilot (Patient 91), who has been treated at the Cho Ray Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, is getting better, the treatment sub-committee said, noting that he has gained full consciousness and been able to respond to all instructions by health workers.

Five more COVID-19 patients have been cleared of the virus, raising the total recovered patients to 298, making up 91% of the total infection cases, the Committee announced on June 2.

Patient 278 is a 50-year old woman, hospitalized on May 7. She has been treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in HCM City.

Patient 294 is a 29-year old man, hospitalized on May 13.

Patient 299 is a 35-year old man, hospitalized on May 17.

Patient 307 is a 30-year old man, hospitalized on May 18.

Patient 311 is a 26-year old man, hospitalized on May 18.

These four patients have been treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Dong Anh District, Ha Noi.

All of them have been in stable condition, with no fever and cough.

They will be isolated and medically monitored in the next 14 days.
