The country’s patient tally is now at 1,044, of whom 690 are locally-transmitted cases. As many as 735 patients have recovered and exited hospitals while 34 others died of the virus and other diseases like end-stage chronic renal failure, respiratory failure, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, and multi-organ failure.

At present, 55,370 people are placed under isolation and medical surveillance, including 908 at hospitals, 16,117 at centralized quarantine camps and 38,345 at places of residence.

Successful containment of the second wave of COVID-19 will open up more room for the country to restart the economy, especially tourism sector which plunged 66.6% on year in January-August.

In a latest move, the Government tasked the Ministry of Transport to mull over resumption of international flights this month.

All travellers to Viet Nam shall have to pay for COVID-19 quarantine costs since September 1, 2020, according to Notice No. 313/TB-VPCP on conclusion of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc after a recent meeting on COVID-19 response./.
