VN hails Oman’s enormous triumphs on National Day

VGP – The Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Viet Nam organized a ceremony to mark the 49th National Day of Oman (November 18) in Ha Noi on November 20.

Addressing the event, Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Vu conveyed best regards to the Government and people of Oman, Mr. Chargé d’Affaires, and all Omani friends living and working in Viet Nam.

Deputy Foreign Minister Vu spoke highly of the enormous triumphs in all fields achieved by Oman over the last 49 years, particularly since the 2020 Vision set by the Sultan of Oman.

“Your per-capita income has tripled. Your competitiveness soared. Your inbound FDI is constantly rising. Your people's living standard, materially and spiritually, are improving across the society,” Vu said.

He expressed his belief that the achievements Oman enjoys over the past nearly five decades are the fruit of the tireless effort, the vision, the determination, and the foreign policy of peace espoused by your leaders and your people, in a world rife with complex changes.

Regarding Viet Nam-Oman relations, Vu emphasized that the bilateral ties witnessed strong positive growth in recent years.

Both sides hav signed a series of bilateral cooperation documents and agreeemnts and regularly maintained inter-ministerial and inter-governmental mechanisms, he said.

In economic aspect, bilateral trade turnover has grown dramatically over the last several years, to US$117 million in 2017 and US$127 million in 2018, he added.

The Viet Nam-Oman Investment (VOI) has made successful investments into key sectors, such as agriculture, renewable energy, infrastructure, hydropower plants, clean water plants, and healthcare, in Viet Nam, according to the Deputy Foreign Minister.

Fir his part, Charge d'affaires Ahmed Abdullah Al Nahdi of the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman, said that the bilateral relations has witnesses massive progress in many fields since the establishment in 1992, thanks to efforts of the two Governments.

The third meeting of the Political Consultation in Muscat between the foreign ministries of the two countries on October 14 was successful, during which both sides discussed and exchanged viewpoints on regional and global issues, and they agreed to improve the bilateral cooperation to a new level.

Charge d'affaires Ahmed Abdullah Al Nahdi also hailed the efforts of both nations in recent years to increase the two-way trade by 122%; elevate the exchanges of delegations and businesses; rise the number of tourists between the two sides. Regarding investment, VOI continues investing in major sectors of Viet Nam, including healthcare, agriculture, renewable energy, among others.

At the event, delegates reviewed the achievements of both sides, hailed the promising future of Viet Nam-Oman relations in many areas, such as trade, investment, cultural cooperation, education-training, tourism, among others./.
