VGP – Over 54,000 Vietnamese guest workers went to work in other countries over the last seven months, the Overseas Labor Management Department has reported.

The 7-month figure would make it possible for Việt Nam to realize the target of sending 87,000 workers to work abroad this year, said Mr. Đào Công Hải, the Deputy Head of Overseas Labor Management Department under the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs.

In July alone, labour exporting companies sent 8,026 workers to other countries.

In the January-July period, 13,541 workers arrived in the Republic of Korea, 5,886 to Malaysia, 3,527 to Japan, 2,627 to Saudi Arabia.

The demands for labors in potential markets like Taiwan and Malaysia still remain high while that in such other markets as Japan, Saudi Arabia, Laos and Macau see slight rises, said Mr. Hải.

The Deputy Head also called for close coordination between vocational training units and labor exporting companies to train skilled workers and expand markets.

Early this year, more than 10,000 Vietnamese guest workers returned home from Libya to escape from political unstability there./.
