VN hosts 6th ASEAN Plus Three Junior Science Odyssey

VGP - The sixth ASEAN Plus Three Junior Science Odyssey, themed “renewable energy for life” is taking place in Hoa Lac Hi-tech park in Ha Noi from July 10-15.

July 10, 2017 4:33 PM GMT+7

Viet Nam hosts the event for the first time.

Odyssey is an annual competition since 2012 for gifted and talented students aged between 13 and 15 years in science and technology fields and looks to nurture future scientists and engineers.

As many as 120 students joining the event come from ASEANPlus Three nations, and Sweden and Taiwan (China) as guests.

The event is primarily composed of a poster exhibition, a laboratory skills competition, field exposures and project pitching. The host country has the task of finalizing the specifics of each activity, including the theme, topic, rules and mechanics.

With the aim of nurturing gifted students in the sciences from the ASEAN region as well as from other countries, the ASEAN 3 Center for the Gifted in Science (ACGS), based in the Republic of Korea, is the overall organizer of competition, in cooperation with the ASEAN-member countries, China and Japan.

Last year, the 5th ASEAN Plus Three Junior Science Odyssey, themed “Climate Change and the Rainforest”, was held in the Philippines.
