ComexPerú has also said a trade agreement with Vietnam will help boost the two-way trade and lure investment from the Southeast Asian country.
Official news agency Andinas has quoted a press release by ComexPerú which says Peru should take advantage of improved relations with Vietnam, a member of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum, and the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TTP).
The two-way trade between Vietnam and Peru has trebled to US$165 million in 2011 from US$55.3 in 2006. In the first five months of this year, Peru exported US$50 million worth of products, mainly fish powder and oil, up 79% on-year, and continued to import Vietnamese goods, mostly footwear.
