VGP – Together with other countries all over the world, at 8.30 PM on March 27, Việt Nam will participate in the global biggest environment campaign by turning off lights for one hour with a view to raising public awareness of climate change.

The announcement was made today at a press briefing in Hà Nội by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).
The Earth Hour 2010 is supposed to draw the bigger participation of over 20 cities in Việt Nam, said Mr. Nguyễn Khắc Hiếu, Deputy General Director of the MONRE’s Hydrometeorology and Climate Change Department.
Hồ Chí Minh City will host major events where famous artists and the Goodwill Ambassadors for Earth Hour will attend.
As the golden sponsor of the event in Việt Nam, the Electricity of Việt Nam (EVN) wants to encourage people to follow the Government-initiated program on energy safety.
It was reported that thanks to the Earth Hour 2009, Việt Nam saved 140,000kWh of electric power.
