Addressing the hand-over ceremony this morning, Dung affirmed Viet Nam and Myanmar are not only ASEAN members but also long-lasting friends.

Ambassador Kyaw Soe Win expressed thanks to the Government and people of Viet Nam for the valuable gift, which is a great source of encouragement for his country to overcome the current difficult time.

He also spoke highly of Viet Nam's outcomes in preventing and containing the epidemic as well as its active support for other countries.

On April 7, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs To Anh Dung symbolically handed over 550,000 made-in-Viet Nam face masks as gifts from the Vietnamese Government and people to France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK.

In early April, the Vietnamese Government and people presented medical equipment worth over 7 billion VND as gifts to Laos and Cambodia. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Quoc Dung handed over the gifts, which included specialized protective clothing, medical masks, testing systems and COVID-19 test kits, at a ceremony on April 3.

In February, Vietnam sent breathing equipment, cleanroom suits, gloves and face masks worth 500,000 USD in total to China to help the country fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

Many agencies and organizations in Viet Nam also donated medical supplies to foreign countries in support of the anti-epidemic fight.

So far, Viet Nam has confirmed 255 COVID-19 infection cases, of whom 144 have been cleared of the virus and exited hospitals./.
