VN promotes tourism in Hong Kong

VGP – A seminar on promoting tourism and attracting investment was held in Hong Kong on June 27 by by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST), Vietnam Consulate General.

Participants to the event included Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Khanh Hai, President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations Vu Xuan Hong and tourism ambassador Ly Nha Ky.

The relationship between Vietnam and Hong Kong has developed well in various areas with a number of agreements signed, said Vietnamese Consul General in Hong Kong Nguyen Thi Nha.

According to figures released by the Hong Kong authorities, two-way trade turnover between Hong Kong and Vietnam reached US $3.2 billion in 2011, a year-on-year rise of 37%.

The two sides boast for huge potential for bilateral cooperation not only in economics and trade but also in culture and education.

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hai said that Vietnam has recorded many great achievements in various areas after 20 years of the renewal process and is known for its socio-political stability, high economic growth and open policy for investors.

Vietnam and Hong Kong have a huge potential for working together in tourism and investment, bringing prosperity for both, he added.  

With a lot of famous landscapes, Vietnam has seen promising future for developing tourism, stressed Chairman of the Sunwah Group and President of the Hong Kong-Vietnam Commerce Chamber Jonathan Choi.
