The Vietnamese PM made the remark during a meeting with his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe in Bangkok, Thailand on November 4 on the sidelines of the 35th ASEAN Summit and related summits.

PM Abe spoke highly of PM Phuc’s presence at the enthronement ceremony of Japanese Emperor Naruhito, while thanking Viet Nam for actively supporting Japan in its role as a coordinator of ASEAN-Japan relations.

He expressed his hopes that in Viet Nam’s ASEAN Chairmanship Year 2020, the two countries will work closely together to deal with regional and global challenges.

The two PMs voiced their pleasure to see that the extensive strategic partnership between Viet Nam and Japan have been growing strongly and comprehensively over recent times, together with the increasingly substantial cooperation between the two sides.

They agreed to strengthen the exchange of all-level and high-level delegations; accelerate cooperation cross the fields of trade, investment, infrastructure construction, labor, and the effective use of official development assistance (ODA) loans; enhance coordination in multilateral forums; and jointly respond to and deal with regional and global challenges, including the East Sea issue.
