VN reports ninth Coronavirus-related death

VGP – The Ministry of Health has confirmed Covid-19 patient numbered 651 has passed away, raising the number of fatalities to nine.

The patient is a 67-year-old woman who died of kidney failure, lupus erythematosus, type 2 diabetes, fungal blood infection, and Covid-19, said Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Truong Son.

On July 18, she  was admitted to emergency unit of the Department of Nephrology at Da Nang Hospital and then taken to Gia Dinh Hospital where she were treated until July 31. 

She tested positive for the coronavirus on August 2 and sent back to the Department of Tropical Diseases of the Da Nang Hospital.  

On August 4, the patient developed acute respiratory distress syndrome and was placed on a ventilator. 

On early August 6, her pulse gradually slowed down and she went into a deep coma and gradually lost heartbeat. She eventually died at 1:30 AM.

Viet Nam recorded its first Covid-19 death last Friday. The other eight deceased patients were aged between 53 and 86 and had chronic comorbidities. All of them are either residents in Quang Nam or Da Nang and suffered from chronic diseases such as cancer, chronic renal failure and diabetes before getting infected with Covid-19. 

As of 6:10 am on Thursday, the country confirmed 717 Covid-19 cases, including 381 recoveries./.
