VN speeds up fertilizer export to ASEAN

VGP – Vietnam has gained the advantage over fertilizer export to Thailand, Cambodia, the Philippines and Myanmar, said Deputy Director General of the PetroVietnam Fertilizer and Chemicals Corporation Nguyen Hong Vinh.

August 23, 2012 5:43 PM GMT+7

Specifically, it takes some 3-5 days to transport fertilizer to other ASEAN members compared to 40-50 days from the Middle East and Baltic region. Besides, the transport costs are also lower.

PetroVietnam Fertilizer and Chemicals Corporation opened its branch in Myanmar in 2012. This year, it plans to set up a representative office there to spur fertilizer export to this potential market.
In the first six months of 2012, the Corporation shipped over 50,000 tons of fertilizer to the Philippines, Cambodia and Myanmar.

Vietnam’s fertilizer demand is around 2 million tons per year meanwhile its output reaches 2.6 million tons this year./.
