VN to join ADB’s annual meeting in Uzbekistan

VGP – The Government chief lately entrusted Governor of the State Bank of Việt Nam (SBV) Nguyễn Văn Giàu to lead a delegation to partake in the 43rd Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), slated for April 29 to May 5 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

Earlier, the Government chief approved Việt Nam's plan to host the 44th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of ADB in 2011.

Established in 1966 with the headquarters in Manila, Philippines, ADB targets to facilitate poverty reduction in the Asia-Pacific region by stimulating economic growth, developing sustainable environment and strengthening regional integration. 

Over the last time, the Bank has operated actively in Việt Nam. Amid the global economic crisis in 2009, ADB lent Việt Nam US $500 million for five years to finance the public sector.

Recently, ADB and the Vietnamese Government on February 3 penned a loan agreement worth of US $45 million on rural water supply in Central Việt Nam.
