He said Vietnam is willing to implement its commitments and agreements reached at bilateral and multilateral cooperation mechanisms to join international efforts in the struggle against crime.

The conference was held by the Ministry of Public Security, in coordination with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the Mini Dublin Group after Vietnam was selected as one of the eight pilot countries for the new One Plan, a framework for cooperation programs of UN agencies in the 2012-2016 period.

Participants in the conference discussed and contributed ideas to the draft national strategy on the prevention and control of drugs until 2020 and the national anti human trafficking program in the 2011-2015 period

From 2006-2010, Vietnam detected nearly 1 million criminal cases.  64,000 of them were related to drug trafficking with 1,000 criminals arrested and 1,000 kilos of heroin and eight tons of cannabis seized.
