Mr. Ninh made the remark on Thursday in Ha Noi while meeting with Nicandro Durante, Chief Executive of British American Tobacco plc (BAT)

Ninh highly spoke of the effective operation of the joint venture between BAT and the Viet Nam National Tobacco Corporation (VINATABA), which has contributed positively to budget collection, sustainable production of raw materials and social welfare activities in Viet Nam.

The host leader proposed BAT working closely with VINATABA to plan and develop material areas to ensure stable supply and raise the living standards of local residents.

Ninh also requested BAT cooperate with local authorities to seriously enact the Tobacco Control Law to minimize tobacco impacts on people’s health and combat illegal tobacco trading.

For his part, Mr. Nicandro Durante hailed Viet Nam’s open, stable and attractive policies for encouraging long-term foreign investment.

BAT, said the guest leader, would seriously observe Viet Nam’s regulations on tobacco control and speed up activities to promote social welfare, develop raw material areas and fight against illegal tobacco./.
