During her first official visit to Viet Nam on November 2-4, Bangladeshi PM Sheikh Hasina held talks with his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Tan Dung and met other top leaders of Viet Nam.

In the joint communiqué released at the conclusion of the visit, the leaders expressed their consensus to consolidate and strengthen the bilateral relationship which has been developing well for nearly 40 years since Viet Nam and Bangladesh established their diplomatic ties in 1973.

They pledged to boost up political, security, national defense, economic, trade, investment, communication and agriculture cooperation.

They agreed to organize the second meeting of the Viet Nam-Bangladesh Joint Committee and the 1st political consultation between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs as well as possible to put forth directions for future bilateral cooperation.

On this occasion, the Bangladeshi side reaffirmed to grant all conditions for Vietnamese businesses to shake hands with Bangladeshi partners, especially in military industries and logistic services.

Bangladesh also officially recognized Viet Nam’s market economy as a move to promote bilateral economic ties and deepen the friendship between the two countries.

The host and guest leaders witnessed the signing of many documents for bilateral cooperation in the fields of husbandry, aquaculture, agriculture, and trade promotion. They strongly believed that these documents are important legal foundation for relevant agencies of the two sides to expand cooperation.

They also agreed to support each other on international and regional forums, and closely work together in institutionalizing some global agreements to respond to climate challenges.
