At the invitation of Vietnamese PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng, Finnish PM Matti Vanhanen today started his 3-day official visit to Việt Nam.

Right after the welcoming ceremony, in their talk of mutual trust and understanding, the two government leaders exchanged views on measures to accelerate the bilateral relations in all fields.

Regarding politics and diplomacy, the Vietnamese host leader sought Finnish support for Việt Nam in boosting ties with other European countries, negotiating for the recognition of its market economy and obtaining more opportunities for made-in-Việt Nam exports to enter Europe.

Việt Nam stands ready to bridge the Nordic country with other ASEAN member states, said Mr. Dũng.

There remain great investment potentials for the two countries to tap, said the Vietnamese Government chief.

Mr. Dũng also recommended the two sides to speed up trade and commodity exchanges, open markets for their respective products, realize the framework agreement on education and training, cooperate in labor, and continue ODA for social security and poverty reduction.

PM Matti Vanhanen appreciated the dynamic growth of Việt Nam, pledging to support his business community to do business in Việt Nam.
