VGP – The crime situation in Vietnam is at medium level in comparison with the rest of the world with an average of around 68 cases per 100,000 people per month, said Minister of Public Security Tran Dai Quang.

Minister Quang told the National Assembly deputies on Thursday.

However, the situation has become complicated with new crimes detected, he added.

Economic difficulties, massive bankruptcy, higher rates of job unemployment and degradation of social morals especially among the youth, and limited legal system were chiefly attributed to the worse situation.

Noticeably, juvenile delinquency increased over the past years due to slack disciplines by families and schools, online games and violence on the Internet.

Crimes involving foreigners are also on the rise. Last year, some 448 foreigners were arrested for breaking the law in Vietnam.

Some foreigners even came to Vietnam under the cover of tourists to work illegally here. Many of them bought agro-products on the nod at high prices and run away.

The Minister also noted the risk of high-tech crimes and a possibility of a cyber war in Vietnam.
