Paying a courtesy meeting to PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng on September 28 in Hà Nội, ADB President Haruhiko Kuroda expressed his gratitude to the Vietnamese Government for organizing the Forum on Impact of the Global Economic Slowdown on Poverty and Sustainable Development in Asia and the Pacific Region here on the occasion of the working visit by the ADB delegation to Việt Nam.

The ADB leader suggested the Vietnamese Government adopt more flexible and cautious monetary policies and stabilize macro-economy. Mr. Haruhiko Kuroda forecasted that Việt Nam’s economy would record relatively high growth rates in late 2009 and 2010, assuring that ADB would continue to provide the Southeast Asian country with more advises and financial and credit assistances.

PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng appreciated ADB introducing timely measures to support its member states to cope with the global economic recession and mitigate impacts of the international financial turmoil.

The bank’s timely valuations and recommendations have partly helped Việt Nam stabilize its macro-economy, said the Government chief.

In addition, the host leader expressed his gratitude to ADB for its assistance, including a US $500-million credit and US $1.3 billion aid for poverty reduction in Việt Nam in 2009.

Expressing his delight at the fine relations between Việt Nam and Austria in all fields, the host PM hoped that the Ambassador would make every effort to bring depth and focus to the bilateral relations for the sake of the two countries.
