Viet Nam Digital Transformation Alliance makes debut

VGP – The Viet Nam Digital Transformation Alliance for a prosperous Viet Nam was established on August 8 within the ICT Summit 2019.

The alliance comprises leading technological firms in Viet Nam such as Viettel, FPT, CMC, VNG, and MobiFone. 

It was initiated by the Viet Nam Software & IT services (VINASA), targeting to call upon large ICT enterprises, leading experts and institutes to shake hands with the Government, ministries, organizations and enterprises to speed up the progress of digital transformation in Viet Nam. 

Under a direction of the PM, the Ministry of Information and Communications is drafting a project on “national digital transformation.”

Once adopted, the project will be the foundation for ministries, sectors, local authorities and enterprises to build and implement their digital transformation plans to support socio-economic development.

Under a draft project, the digital transformation roadmap will include three stages including(1) From 2020 until late 2022, foundations of digital transformation will be formulated; projects on digital transformation in prioritized and key fields will be implemented; (2) from 2023-2025, digital transformation will be sped up in socio-economic areas; (3) in 2026-2030, digital transformation will be implemented comprehensively and the economy and society will operate on the basis of digital technology, renovation , and creation. 

The draft project also set specific goals including by 2025 Viet Nam will join Top 4 ASEAN in national digital rankings; Viet Nam’s national competitive index will rank Top 40 in the world and Top 4 in ASEAN.

Addressing the event, Mr. Le Dang Dung, a representative of the Alliance said that the body comprises Viet Nam’s biggest telecom and IT enterprises with a mission to inspire the society on digital transformation and forge infrastructure and service foundations for Vietnamese enterprises and society to go digital. In the next phase, the alliance will invite competent enterprises to join./.
