Of the 270 confirmed patients, 130 are imported cases who were quarantined upon their arrival.

A total of 220 patients, equivalent to 81%, have made full recovery, while 50 others are being treated at medical establishments nationwide.

The current patients include 10 patients tested negative for COVID-19 once and four others tested negative twice or more. No coronavirus deaths have been recorded in the country so far.

Regarding the three serious cases (patients No. 19, 161 and 91, a British pilot), the Specialized Council for Communicable Diseases on April 29 organized an online seminar to discuss relevant issues, from the use of medicines to the testing-related issues.

As assessed by medical experts, patient No. 19 has overcome difficult stages, with clinical manifestations such as blood gases and chest X-ray having improved.

Patient No. 91 is being treated at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Ho Chi Minh City, and is currently in a serious condition with slow progress. The patient had an endotracheal intubation and continued to use ECMO and the ventilator.

Thus far, a total of 34,836 people who had been in close contact with the confirmed patients or came from pandemic-hit regions have been quarantined across the country, including 316 at hospitals, 6,700 at concentrated quarantine areas and 27,820 at home.

The Ministry of Health said that Viet Nam is currently ranked 126th among the 212 countries and territories hit by the disease. However, the ranking has constantly changed as the number of cases in the world still keeps growing./.
