This means Viet Nam will work to make its bilateral relations more substantive and effective, Quan explained to reporters on Wednesday on the sidelines of the ongoing 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV).

The Party issued a resolution on enhancing Viet Nam’s multilateral diplomacy with the direction of proactive and active participation in multilateral mechanisms and initiatives, said Quan, highlighting that this is a development in the foreign policy of the Party and the Government of Viet Nam in the next tenure.

Regarding major outcomes of Viet Nam’s diplomacy, Quan said the country has joined nearly 20 free trade deals, which open up vast room for trade and investment ties with the world and this is a great effort of the nation.

He stressed the need to better policy system and infrastructure, including digital infrastructure so that the country could participate in the world’s playgrounds more confidently and practically.

The 13th National Party Congress is taking place at the National Convention Center in Ha Noi from January 25-February 2 under the motto “Solidarity-Democracy-Discipline-Creativeness-Development”.

During the event, 1,587 delegates representing more than 5,1 million Party members nationwide will review the implementation of the previous Congress Resolution in association with assessment of the 35-year renewal process, 30-year implementation of the 1991 Platform, 10-year implementation of the 2011 Platform (amended) and implementation of the 2011-2020 socio-economic development strategy.

The Congress will also have duty to chart development orientations for next five, ten years and vision to 2045; review Party building work and leadership of the 12th-tenure Party Central Committee; evaluate the implementation of the Party Statutes; and elect 200 members of the 13th-tenure Party Central Committee.

The first National Party Congress was convened on March 27-31, 1935 with the attendance of 13 delegates representing approximately 600,000 Party members./.
