Vietnamese, Cambodian PMs to chair investment promotion meeting

VGP – Vietnamese PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng and his Cambodian counterpart Hun Sen will jointly preside over an Investment Promotion Meeting of Vietnamese enterprises in the Cambodian market which is slated for December 26 in Hồ Chí Minh City, said the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MoPI).

MoPI, Office of Government, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the People’s Committee of Hồ Chí Minh will host the event.

At the meeting, leaders of the two countries’ ministries and agencies will have discussions with representatives of the business communities about Cambodia’s strategies and policies to attract and manage foreign investment. 

As part of the meeting, there will be ceremonies of licensing Vietnamese investors, signing of cooperative agreements. On the occasion, the Association of Vietnamese Investors in Cambodia and a Cambodian business branch in Hồ Chí Minh City will make their debut.

According to statistics of MoPI, Việt Nam has 63 investment projects in Cambodia with over US $863 million. These projects are mainly in the areas of agro-forestry, mineral, telecommunications, banking and insurance.
