Vietnamese, Cambodian provinces sign cooperation deal

VGP – Authorities of Viet Nam’s province of Tay Ninh and Cambodia’s province of Kongpong Cham on September 17 signed a deal on cooperation in economy, investment, community healthcare, social security, cultural and sports exchange, tourism development.

The two localities’ cooperation also covers the maintenance of security and social order at border areas to ensure peace, friendship, stability and development for the common border line.

The deal is aimed at realizing the minutes of a conference on cooperation and development in Viet Nam-Cambodia border provinces signed by the two governments in March this year.

Under the deal, the two provinces pledged to create more favorable conditions for Vietnamese and Cambodian enterprises to boost investment, economic development, and especially import and export activities conducted at border areas.

They will also frequently exchange information about plant and animal diseases and varieties, and strengthen cooperation to fight cross-border wild animal trafficking.

The two sides are to build more border gates, encourage investment in border areas, boost coordination in disease prevention and fight and food safety, and help each other in human resources development.

In addition to these, the two provinces will also step up coordination to protect border markers, and prevent illegal transport of weapons, drugs, humans…
