Vietnamese, Chinese leaders exchange congratulatory messages

VGP – Senior leaders of Viet Nam and China have exchanged greetings on the occasion of the 70th founding anniversary of Viet Nam-China diplomatic ties (January 18, 1950).

Specifically, Party General Secretary, State President Nguyen Phu Trong, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan respectively exchanged messages of congratulations with Chinese Party General Secretary, President Xi Jinping, Premier of the State Council Li Keqiang and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Li Zhanshu.

In their messages, the Vietnamese leaders highlighted:

The date January 18, 1950 was a historical landmark in the neighboring relationship between Viet Nam and China. Over the recent 70 years, the two Parties, States and peoples have supported each other, making contributions to the national liberation and development in each country.

The friendship, which was developed and nurtured by President Ho Chi Minh and President Mao Zedong and generations of the two countries’ leaders have become the valuable common asset, contributing to the sustainable development of Viet Nam-China traditional relationship, bringing practical interests for the two peoples.

The Vietnamese leaders affirmed the consistent and long-term policy of attaching great importance and giving top priority to advancing the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with the Chinese Party, State and people.

They expressed their belief that both countries shall bear the historical responsibility for further promoting the bilateral ties amid profound changes of the regional and global landscape.

History has shown that the constant consolidation and development of the friendly relationship in a healthy and stable manner based on mutual respect and cooperation for mutual benefits is of significant importance for fostering the bilateral ties, in line with the fundamental and long-term interests of their peoples and contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

Meanwhile, Chinese leaders highlighted that the Viet Nam-China relationship has advanced extensively, bringing practical benefits to the two peoples.

They affirmed that China attaches great importance to advancing the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with Viet Nam.

On the occasion, Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister  Pham Binh Minh, who is also Head of the sub-committee of the Viet Nam-China Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation, exchanged congratulatory message with Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who is head of the sub-committee of the China-Viet Nam Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation.
