Vietnamese NGOs gather for annual meeting

(VOV) – Under the motto “Promoting cooperation between State agencies and Vietnamese non-governmental organizations (VNGOs), the VNGOs annual meeting was held on December 14 in Hà Nội.

December 14, 2011 3:54 PM GMT+7

The event was hosted by the Việt Nam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA) to discuss on poverty reduction, equality and rights of ethnic people, prevention of domestic violence, especially amongst children, and promotion of social organizations in the “Aid Effectiveness” program in Việt Nam.

The annual meeting also provided a platform for social organizations to share their experience and talk about ways to strengthen cooperation between State agencies and VNGOs in the future.

It is essential to figure out measures to make VNGOs get involved actively in the process of national development, said VUSTA Deputy Secretary General Phạm Bích San.

He added that social organizations in Việt Nam have played an increasing role in working with State agencies and localities to address social issues like poverty reduction, natural resources conservation, gender equality, and child protection./.
