Vietnamese leaders pay tribute to Cambodian ex-King

VGP – Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and other high-ranking officials on October 19 arrived in Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia and paid tribute to Cambodian King Father Norodom Sihanouk, who passed away on October 15.

PM Dung and other Vietnamese high-ranking officials, including Deputy PM Nguyen Thien Nhan, FM Pham Binh Minh, Minister, and Chairman of the Government Office Vu Duc Dam, laid a wreath to pay tribute to ex-King Norodom Sihanouk and expressed sympathy to the Cambodian people.

The PM offered condolences of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, State President Truong Tan Sang, Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Sinh Hung and other Vietnamese high-ranking officials to Queen Mother of Cambodia Norodom Monineath Sihanouk.

The Queen thanked the Vietnamese leaders and people’s concerns and sympathy with Cambodia and confirmed that she will make contributions to the two nations’ relations.

In the funeral guest book, PM Dung wrote “we will always remember the fraternal sentiments the King father had given to Vietnamese people as well as his valuable contributions to the friendship and growing bond between Vietnam and Cambodia.”

The same day, the PM met with his Cambodia counterpart Hun Sen to exchange issues related to regional cooperation of mutual concerns. Both sides affirmed to continue cementing the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
